Nexstar Network Tech Stack: What Members Are Using in 2026
2026-05-28 · 10 min read · By Jason Osajima
Nexstar Network is the largest business development organization for residential service contractors in the country. Roughly 700 member companies in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. Members pay $25-50K/year for the community, training, and the often-underrated benefit: access to what the best-run shops are actually using.
If you're a Nexstar member, you've seen the tech stack discussions in the Member Center, at the regional Super Meetings, and in the 1:1 coaching sessions. If you're considering Nexstar membership, the tech stack is one signal of what your peers will look like operationally. If you're neither, this is a useful benchmark for "what does a well-run residential service shop actually run on in 2026?"
Here's the current snapshot. Synthesized from member conversations, public posts, vendor implementations, and what's working at the Nexstar 90+ Operations Manual standard.
The core platform layer
The Nexstar Network has long had a strong relationship with ServiceTitan — historically the platform of choice for serious residential service shops. In 2026, the picture has more variety:
| Platform | Est. Nexstar share | Typical member size |
|---|---|---|
| ServiceTitan | ~55% | $8M+ |
| FieldEdge | ~20% | $3-15M |
| Service Fusion | ~10% | $3-12M |
| Successware (HVAC-focused) | ~8% | $5-20M |
| Other / multi-platform | ~7% | Varies |
For platform decisions, see our ServiceTitan alternatives review.
The AI layer (the big 2026 shift)
The Nexstar Tech Summit at the 2026 Super Meeting put AI front and center. Three categories of adoption:
- AI voice agents. Avoca dominates among Nexstar members. Roughly 40% of $5M+ members report some Avoca deployment. 11x and Goodcall trail. See our voice agent comparison and Avoca review.
- AI lead nurture / SMS. Hatch is widespread (~30% adoption). Conversica is common among the larger members.
- AI ops intelligence. Earliest adoption, low base rate but growing. Newer members rolling out AI ops dashboards that sit above ServiceTitan.
The marketing and growth layer
| Tool | Use case | Common at Nexstar |
|---|---|---|
| CallRail | Call tracking + attribution | ~70% |
| Google Local Services Ads | Lead generation | ~80% |
| Scorpion / Blue Corona | Marketing agency | ~50% |
| NiceJob / Podium | Review generation | ~60% |
| Profit Coach (Nexstar internal) | Financial benchmarking | Nexstar-exclusive |
The financial and back-office layer
Nexstar members are disciplined about books. The standard stack:
- QuickBooks Online or Enterprise — universal. Nexstar Profit Coach is built around QB reporting.
- Sage Intacct — adopted by larger members (typically $20M+) for multi-entity reporting.
- Bill.com / Ramp — AP automation, increasingly standard.
- Anchor or Upflow — AR automation, growing fast in 2026.
- Gusto / Paylocity — payroll, fairly mixed by region.
The Nexstar Service System (NSS)
The Nexstar Service System is the proprietary operations playbook members are trained on. It defines:
- How calls are answered (the "6-step call").
- How techs present pricing (the "Service Cycle").
- How service plans are sold.
- How quarterly business reviews are run.
The NSS is the soul of Nexstar membership. The tech stack supports the NSS — it doesn't replace it. When a member deploys AI, the AI needs to be trained on the NSS pricing presentation, NSS call flow, NSS service plan structure. Vendors that don't accommodate the NSS get rejected.
What's changed in 2026
Three shifts in the Nexstar tech conversation this year:
- AI voice is mainstream, not experimental. A year ago, Avoca was an early-adopter conversation. Now it's the default question at coaching sessions: "Are you running Avoca yet?"
- Multi-location members are the AI ops first adopters. The 3+ location Nexstar members are the ones piloting AI ops dashboards. The numbers are too hard to track manually at that scale.
- Heat pump and electrification specialization. Members with strong electrification books (heat pumps, EV chargers, panel upgrades) are demanding software that handles those workflows differently. Pure-play residential HVAC software is no longer enough.
Per the Nexstar 2026 Member Tech Survey (member-restricted), 57% of $10M+ members had deployed at least one AI workflow by Q1 2026, up from 18% a year earlier. The adoption curve is steepening.
What Nexstar membership is and isn't
Nexstar is best understood as: a peer learning network + an operations playbook + a financial benchmarking system + a vendor due-diligence shortcut. The $25-50K/year is mostly the community access — peer roundtables, regional Super Meetings, 1:1 coaching.
It is not: a software bundle, a marketing service, or an outsourcing option. You still run your business. Nexstar gives you the framework and the network to run it better.
Nexstar vs the alternatives
Other buying / consulting groups in the trades:
- Service Nation Alliance. More accessible price point, larger member base, less rigorous coaching.
- Service Roundtable. Lowest cost ($60-120/month), highest member count, lighter-touch.
- EGIA. Strong on training, weaker on peer benchmarking.
See our Service Nation vs Service Roundtable comparison for the smaller-shop options.
If you're building a Nexstar-grade tech stack
The minimum stack to compete with a Nexstar 90+ member operationally:
- ServiceTitan or FieldEdge (clean implementation).
- CallRail for call tracking.
- Avoca or equivalent AI voice agent.
- QuickBooks Online + Bill.com (or equivalent).
- Hatch or equivalent for SMS lead nurture.
- AI ops dashboard above the stack.
- Quarterly financial benchmarking against your peer group.
That stack runs roughly $4-8K/month plus platform implementation, depending on size. See our 7-step AI implementation playbook for the sequencing.
Bottom line
The Nexstar tech stack in 2026 = ServiceTitan + CallRail + Avoca + QuickBooks + Hatch + (increasingly) an AI ops layer. The platform layer is mature; the AI layer is where members are actively moving in 2026. Whether you join Nexstar or not, this is a reasonable benchmark for what a well-run $5-30M residential service contractor looks like operationally this year.
